With love and gratitude from Liberia ~ Deborah
Monrovia, Liberia - I awoke today to find this very appreciated email from the Vice President’s Chief of Staff in my inbox. I am so grateful! I have been working with friend Leslee Udwin, producer of the documentary film, India’s Daughter. It is the extraordinary story of a gang-rape of a female medical student in December 2012 in India. Leslee not only documented this horrific act, but is taking steps to make sure it will not happen again. With the help of many, she is creating a global gender equality curriculum, THINK EQUALITY. This curriculum will begin in the earliest years of children’s education around the globe, including here in Liberia. As Sam rightly says below, what we have been doing is not working; we are still raising boys who think it is okay to rape girls and women, and still raising girls who put boys first in education and so much.
