Liberia and the people of Liberia are in recovery from an unprecedented crisis. Besides the tremendous death toll and infection rates, every aspect of the country has been affected. The GDP for the three most affected countries is expected to be a loss of $2.2B in 2015; countries already struggling in so many ways. So, we discussed a five point recovery plan.
- Strengthen healthcare and frontline response
- Agriculture
- Education
- Cash transfers and other social protection programs
- Infrastructure – electricity, water, sanitation, and roads
- All of these so abundant and in place here in America; completely lacking in Liberia. It is interesting that the highest priority when peace happened 10 years ago was roads; now at the bottom of the priority list.
I am committed to help Liberians tell their stories of this last year. My team in Liberia and I have so much video and so many interviews on film. I am working with a documentary filmmaker to create a film – watch for details soon…
Thank you for keeping the country and people of Liberia in your heart and prayers; all in our human family deserve our love and prayers. With love and gratitude ~ Deborah
