Madam Taywah Kessellie is a single parent and a mother of six (6) children. She trades in dishes and fruits sales (two separate tables) at the Rally Time market in central Monrovia. Her husband was killed during the 14 year civil war and when the war ended in 2004; her friends encouraged her to start a business of her own. She hesitated at first and then in 2006, with the help of her children, she started selling kola nuts on her head around Monrovia and its environs. When she heard about the Foundation for Women Microcredit Program in 2012, she informed her friends in the Rally Time Market and in 2013 they organized they their center and received their first loans from FFWL. From her meager sales, she’d secured a selling spot in the Rally Time Market and currently she sells vegetables on one table and rubber dishes on another in the market. Her business is now attracting many customers and she wants to meet the demand, so she is requesting a loan of $20,000.00 or $222.00 USD from the Foundation for Women.
