Ma Kpannah Fayiah (commonly known as “Lapper Leader”) started her business, trading in Kola nuts with an amount of L$50.00 or U$0.50. She would put the nuts in a plate and walked around the street corners of Monrovia. She made a sale of L$2,000.00 or U$22.00 and decided to trade in Palm oil and bush meat. Months later and with additional gains, she’s now trading in Lappers (African attire).
Business friends and loved ones are now calling her “Lapper Leader”. Ma Kpannah is a mother of six (6) boys and her husband died during the civil outbreak in Liberia. As a single parent, she provided the basic needs of her children, including education, shelter, food and health care. Today, Ma Kpannah is desirous of owning and operating a big lapper store in Monrovia and really wants to see her dream being fulfilled. She is requesting from the Foundation for Women a loan of L$40,000.00 or $445.00 USD to pursue her dream.
