It is time for JOY in Liberia and we are making it!
We are truly bringing joy to youth in Liberia who have known little but war and Ebola. Thanks to our treasured donors, skateboarding has come to Liberia for the first time! The project began when FFW Founder Deborah Lindholm went to Liberia with a few skateboards to give to children of families involved in FFW microcredit programs. Deborah was amazed by the excitement with which the skateboards were received and saw an opportunity.
Skateboarding is athletic, it's hip, it's fun and it represents a much-needed new sport for Liberian kids. The Skateboard Liberia project is operated as the ELWA Academy Skateboard Club in Paynesville, Liberia (near the Liberian capital of Monrovia). The club launched with 72 students under the leadership of Club Director, Pastor Arthur T. Williams.
The Skateboard Liberia project is organized on the model of collective impact in which a group of actors from different sectors commit to a common agenda for solving a specific social problem, using a structured form of collaboration. We envision public skateboard parks dedicated to making education fun stretching from Liberia to other parts of Africa.

And...You!
We are gratefully accepting donations to help fulfill this project and heartily invite you to join our many other individual contributors in bringing skateboards to Liberian children. This one simple thing is building community, enhancing education and bringing smiles. In a complicated world with so many issues, giving a child a skateboard is an act of simple joy.
