Monrovia, Liberia - A Moses is Going to College in America Celebration!  Over thirty people gathered tonight, Moses’ biological family and chosen family, to celebrate him and his amazing accomplishment of having been accepted to ten universities in America.  He has chosen Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania where he will study computer science.

On Christmas Day 2006, my first ever day in Liberia, I attended a Christmas Day gathering for children who had nothing special to do that day at the home of my then Liberian colleague. Over 250 children were in attendance. Every time I turned around, there was Moses. At the time, he was 9 years old, from an illiterate family living far from Monrovia, selling water on the street to help support them vs being in school. At the end of the party, I told my colleague, “If you can find him, I will pay for him to go to school.” She did; Moses and I began an unbelievable journey…

Thirteen years later, I am bringing him to America. Ten days from today, I will bring him with me to the US to begin college, after having been accepted to 10 universities in America! This afternoon we went to see my treasured friend, the former Vice President, to share this story. As we both say, “It’s a God-thing.” There is truly no other explanation. As does now the VP, along with his great love and appreciation for the work of the Foundation for Women here in his country.

Thank you for continuing to believe in and support the work of the Foundation for Women.  We are making miracles happen every moment.  Believe! Next update from America!

With love and gratitude to all for believing in the work of the Foundation for Women,
