The only program the United States to incorporate the Nobel Prize-winning Grameen microcredit approach, The Foundation for Women micro loan program in San Diego is truly unique.
First-time microcredit borrowers, recommended by current FFW microcredit loan participants, receive loans of $250 from one of 7 San Diego area micro loan centers. After successfully completing their 25-week loan cycle, new borrowers are eligible for a new loan of $500, and may later qualify for a loan of $1000. Once the $1000 loan has been repaid and a credit history compiled, borrowers can qualify for larger loans through FFW?s funding partner, Accion of San Diego.

The Foundation for Women microcredit loans are the catalyst for individual initiative. The loans furnish capital for women to produce and sell handcrafted items, buy and resell goods, clean homes, provide childcare services and establish a variety of other small enterprises.
