As I set aside my $1 today, I am mindful of the enormity of poverty and know
that being part of this grassroots microcredit effort will help millions of people.
I am part of a grassroots movement to contribute to the end of global poverty.
I am committed to putting aside $1/day for those living on less than $1/day – more than 1.2 billion people worldwide.
I am honored and blessed to be part of this effort which reaches the poorest of the poor.
May I help to be their voices until their voices can be heard.
Each day as I choose to use this $1 for this effort, I am mindful of the statistics of
poverty – more than half the worlds’ population must survive on less than $2/day;
10.5 million children die each year from preventable and treatable diseases; 121 million
primary school age children are not in school because of poverty.
I am participating in this grassroots effort to fund microcredit programs for women in India, Africa and the United States. Microcredit programs provide credit versus charity to impoverished women so they can create income generating businesses.
Invite your circle of friends to participate (examples: church, work, little league, girl scouts, women’s groups, men’s groups, service organizations).
This is a grassroots movement. ONE individual can make a difference!
