To all Members, Supporters and Friends of the Foundation for Women
Today is a very special day. Ten years ago on April 23, 1997, the Foundation for Women offered its first program – an evening at the La Jolla Woman's Club dedicated to women and creativity. We did not ask for rsvps. We did ask for a suggested donation of $5. We had no idea if anyone would come but we filled the room with chairs and waited. My dear friend Aimee came early with her caregiver. At 98 she was surely gong to be the oldest person interested in this new Foundation for Women. She entered the Woman's Club and saw so many chairs – and said to me, "Oh Deborah, I am so sorry…" When I looked at her with a most confused expression she said, "There are so many chairs and no people."
It was a fabulous birthing of this organization that night – the program, the location, the people ... Aimee rose from her chair before the evening was complete as it was time for her to go home. When she turned around from her front row seat and saw that the room was filled with women, she exclaimed in astonishment, "Oh my God, you came!!" Indeed, more than 150 women came to that birthing event - and you have been coming ever since ...
In my prayer and meditation time this morning, I reviewed these last ten years. We have accomplished some amazing things together, made plenty of mistakes, created extraordinary friendships and connections. Together as a community we are truly changing the world. I am very grateful and deeply thankful for each and every one of you who has been a part of this miracle. I invite you to stay connected and continue to be part of our grassroots movement to eliminate global poverty through microcredit, to be the voice for so many women whose voices are not heard – and to do all of that with joy and celebration of our special connection and community, or as my dear friend Marshall would say, "with singing and dancing."

Please call the FFW Center at (858) 483-0400 for more info and/or registration for any of our events:
- Book Group: first Tuesday of each month in a private home at 7pm
- Singing For the Soul: second Tuesday of each month in a private home from 6:30-8:30pm
- Yoga: Every Tuesday we offer a Yoga Class at the Center from 4-5 pm. Donation is $10
- First Friday Luncheons: First Friday each month. See our Events page for more info.

June 16th, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Circle members only, at Deborah’s home. Call the office to RSVP.
Space For Rent
The FFW Center has a
large group room (up to 40 people) available to rent. The cost is $40/hour with a maximum day rate of $200. A 50% deposit is required when booking occurs. If you would like to rent the room, please call us at (858) 483-0400 to check availability.
